AN EXCITING YEAR AWAITS FOR FALL 2008
Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Accreditation Review Year
ECS is committed to continuously raise the bar of excellence. One strategic means is through our dual accreditation (WASC and ACSI). This upcoming year ECS will submit a Progress Report that validates we are maintaining our integrity and academic excellence. In the spring of 2006, ECS received a full six year accreditation term with a mid-term progress report. This is the highest accreditation award that a school can receive.

Art Gallery
The Art Gallery will be available for all ECS classes. Students will recognize God as the Creator and be thankful for all of God’s creation. Young artists will create works of art which glorify God. They will build an appreciation of art as they explore its historical and cultural value. The Art Gallery will provide a place to experience the art of great masters while sharing their own creative art expression with their peers. The visual arts enhance communication, self-expression, fine motor skills, self-esteem and the ability to problem solve. They will learn the language of Art, Elements of Art, and the Principles of Design as stated in the California State Standards.

Academies of Inquiry (Grades 4-6)
The Academies of Inquiry will offer a structured program in an environment that is truly unique for fourth through sixth grade students. One day a week children will find comfort in the nurturing environment the ECS staff has established for each individual academy. These academies are designed to enhance the academic strengths, interests, and learning styles of all our students. The focus is on exposing the children to challenging and enjoyable learning experiences across the curriculum. The academies will consist of eight areas of interest to provide students with semester-long enrichment clusters. All students will have the opportunity to participate in every academy at some point during their upper elementary years.

Student Council (Grades 4-6)
Christian leadership and excitement among the student body is the future of ECS. We are excited to introduce a student council to the 2008-2009 school year. There can be nothing greater than students leading students in a planned and directed manner.

Computer Enrichment
Also, beginning in the fall of 2008, Mrs. Pam Jones, currently one of the third grade teachers, will assume the Computer Technology position.  The computer lab will add a new vision to bring technology closer to the lives of our children by integrating technology into their core subjects.

Music Extravaganza
ECS is proud to announce Mickeal McCool as our new Music teacher beginning in fall 2008.

Mr. McCool’s heart and vision for ECS is to share and impart a high standard of musical excellence to elementary children. Mr. McCool believes that we are created to be worshipers, and a large part of growing in God’s Kingdom is to be able to express our heart in worship to God through music.  Mr. McCool will focus on developing students to interpret and communicate the language of music, through reading and writing music, singing and playing music, and expressing music through instrumental and drama performance, as well as weekly praise and worship in school chapel services.

In addition to these school activities, Mr. McCool is excited to continue the after-school Performance Choir, as well as the addition of an after-school Worship Team program which will include a time of teaching on worship, group music and voice lessons and playing together in a full band setting while actually leading worship.  It is Mr. McCool’s desire that Eastside students will lead chapel services on live instruments every week.  Stand by for more information on how your children can be involved!

Parent Advisory Committee
A valuable asset to any school is the parents. They are the stakeholders who assist ECS to accomplish those goals that benefit the children. Through parent surveys we reap insight and direction to lead us to greater perspective and excellence. Of course, not all recommendations and insights can be accomplished in a single year, but we are heading in the right direction.
