The Discovery Program exists to help students with learning difficulties reach their full academic potential. The Discovery Program seeks to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities through a unique educational therapy that focuses on strengthening their areas of deficient functioning.
Designed by the NILD, our educational therapy utilizes a variety of academic and perceptual techniques designed to stimulate the students’ specific areas of perceptual and cognitive difficulty and to strengthen their overall ability to think.
As each student’s perceptual and thinking skills improve, they are then able to learn on their own without the aid of tutoring or modifications. Students are dismissed from the program when they become independent and successful in the regular classroom.
On the average, students who participate in the Discovery Learning Program are in NILD Educational Therapy for 3-5 years. A minimum of 3 years is usually required to bring students to a point of independent academic functioning.
