(3rd -6th Grade 2nd-Quarter)
We offer elective classes beginning in third grade as an introduction to the choices each student will have in junior high and as a chance for them to actively choose a topic of study that is appealing to the individual student, presented in a style suited to their particular needs.
Some of the classes have been designed for fifth and sixth grades only and a few require teacher permission as well. Some class sizes are small while others are much larger and will accommodate a bigger group. Specific instructions will be included within an information packet that is distributed at the beginning of the school year.
The elective classes take place every Tuesday and Thursday, from
2:05-2:50. The classes all correlate with our “EXPECTED SCHOOL-
WIDE LEARNING RESULTS (
ESLR’s) and will be taught by various members of our staff. Each class lasts for one quarter. A sampling of the unique opportunities includes:
Noble Citizens:
Serving Others (Community Service Projects), Conflict Resolution Skills, Peer Tutoring, Student Aides, Character Counts, Safety, etc.
Effective Communicators:
Newspaper 101, Sign Language, Foreign Language, Poetry, Write Your Own Book, Yearbook,
ESL, All the Arts, Vocal Coaching, Drama, Instrumental Music, Public Speaking, etc.
Scholarly Thinkers:
Stupendous Science Skills, Small Group Tutoring, Thinking Games, Study Skills, Technology, Algebra, etc.
Well-grounded Christians:
Worship Team, Evangelism, God’s Temple (Fitness, Nutrition, Cooking, Elective Sport, Square Dancing, etc.), God’s Squad (Bible study), etc.*
