Curriculum and instructional decisions are made by the teachers and administrators through staff and grade level meetings. Curriculum reviews are cyclical, but also performed on an “as needed” basis. Staff members gather data about one academic subject area of the instructional program per year, identify the strengths and weaknesses that surface from the analysis, consult professional journals for current research and educational trends, and prioritize needs and outline the steps to be taken to accomplish an improvement plan. The staff then evaluates and selects materials. New curriculum will then be implemented and the staff will receive training as the new programs, strategies, and materials are put into place.
