Elements of Art
“Elements of Art” are grouped into the elements and principles of line, shape, color, space, form, texture, repetition, movement, contrast, balance, and emphasis as demonstrated by both traditional and contemporary masters. The focus of each lesson is a key concept related to one of the elements. The elements are not present in isolation, but are always considered in the context of compositions. Eastside Christian School’s point of view of God as Creator is woven through the lessons. Creativity is a gift from God, which celebrates life and glorifies God.
As man was created in the image of God, humans have a great capacity for creativity and art. In admiring the vast array of colors and designs in nature, students will be challenged to seek to imitate the beauty and harmony of God’s creation and to express their praise, honor, and glory of God.
