First grade
America's symbols, flag, landmarks, songs and freedoms.  Short introduction to countries throughout the world.


Second grade
America's freedoms, symbols, people, holidays, patriotic songs, map skills, native Americans, Pilgrims, Colonial Americans, pioneers, cowboys, immigrants and new Americans.


Third grade
A study of our American heritage through the lives of great people from the 1400's through 1935; research paper written on assigned historical character; state's study includes a small project on a state.


Fourth grade

Map skills, geography, native Californians, explorers and settlers, California missions, The Gold rush, statehood, growth of California, California government, California cities, California: A Leader Among States.


Fifth grade
Memorize states and capitals; Discovery and exploration of America; Native Americans, Colonization; Colonial life; The Great Awakening; The French and Indian War; The American Revolution; The Civil War; Westward expansion; The Industrial Revolution; Advances in technology; Geography and map skills; report on a state, president, or historical figure.


Sixth grade
Fertile Crescent; Egypt, ancient civilizations; Middle East; Greece, Rome, Christianity; nations of Europe; Asia; Africa; Australia, Oceania, Antarctica.
