Art (Junior High)
JH Art students will have an opportunity to explore a variety of art experiences utilizing a vast array of art mediums. Regardless of prior art experience, students will be encouraged to utilize artistic expression following the example of the Master Creator. Students will engage in drawing, painting, and design. They will learn art processes, gain knowledge of artists and their work, and experience dynamic interaction through reflections, discussions and art critiques. Art (High School)
HS Art students will have an opportunity to explore a variety of art experiences utilizing a vast array of art mediums. Regardless of prior art experience, students will be encouraged to utilize artistic expression following the example of the Master Creator. Art II
Art II students have taken a year of Art 1, and will engage in advanced artistic activities that will build upon Art 1 experiences. Students will apply their knowledge of the elements and principles of art and the use of various media to create work that is excellent and meaningful. Reflective critiques and exhibits will be shared with students of all art levels. AP Studio Art
Independent Study portfolio creation. JH Drama
JH Drama students will participate in group, and individual theater games; they will rehearse and perform monologues and create original Scripture-based sketches. Students will use theatre to improve communication skills with creative and artistic perception. An average of one theatre experience is made available to students each month. The performing arts departments will collaborate to perform a show each spring. Photography (JH or HS)
Digital Photography will cover technical aspects of camera handling, composition, and presentation of photographs. Students will learn the basics of Photoshop as well as how to analyze and evaluate work. Intro to Cinema
Introduction to Cinema provides students an opportunity to examine the many tools of cinema and how to understand, create, and interpret media they encounter daily. By studying and becoming literate in visual aesthetics students will better understand and create media. Additionally, the history of the medium, genres, and its offshoots (TV, documentary, music video, etc.) will be studied in order to give students a more comprehensive and working knowledge of the medium. Video Production develops advanced understanding and practice of video production. Projects are student driven and much more intensive. Script writing, storyboarding, and advance lighting techniques are taught as part of a growing toolbox of video-making skills. |
