Junior High Athletic Department
The Athletic Department at Eastside Christian Jr. High School has dedicated itself to the pursuit of excellence and development of the total student athlete. This student athlete development is a three-fold goal. First and foremost we want our athletes to conduct themselves on and off the court in a way that would be pleasing to our Father’s eyes. Secondly, we want to train and teach our athletes the spirit of competition and what it means to be a team member. This is not the typical world view in which it is a “me first” and win at all cost attitude. We want all of our athletes to know they are an important component to the overall structure of our team. It is not about who gets the most playing time or who scored the winning basket. Last, we require our athletes to be good citizens in the classroom. Athletes are required to maintain a minimum 2.00 G.P.A. Eastside Christian’s teachers, staff, and coaches are committed to this goal. Eastside Christian Jr. High has participated in the Christian Athletic League of Orange County (C.A.L.O.C.) for over 15 years. The Eastside Jr. High Athletic Program offers the following sports for all 7th and 8th graders:
Our staff is aware of the individual needs of youth as well as the social implications of being able to work as a member of a team. Students will be given the opportunity through extensive training, proper equipment and good coaching to reach their maximum potential, athletically, if they dedicate themselves to our program. Eastside Christian High School gives the student a chance to be part of a varsity level team and compete at the highest level possible. Eastside Christian High School is a CIF-Southern Section member and competes in the Western Athletic Conference.
A great tradition is not built overnight. It takes the hard work of many people over many years. Over the years, Eastside teams have won league titles and playoff games. Records have been set by individuals and teams, and further distinction has been earned through league and CIF competition. Some of our athletes have moved on to play at Division 1 schools and the professional level.
Most recently, Oniel Cousins (2002 Eastside Graduate) was drafted in the third round by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2008-09 NFL draft. See Oniel’s profile at the Ravens' website here. We want students to leave Eastside Christian and be able to say that they were proud to have been a part of Eastside Christian Athletics.
