Sports are a universal language that has the ability to transcend all cultural, political, religious, and economic barriers.  With sports, we are using one of the greatest possible tools to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through application of principles in real time activities.

We believe first and foremost that God will be faithful in meeting the financial need to do His Kingdom work.

Please prayerfully consider how your family can be a part of this work

Our gymnasium is need of repairs. The facility is a multi use facility, serving the needs of 7-12th grade high school physical education and competitive athletic programs, church youth sports programs, an elementary Awana program, and adult church sponsored sports programs. Additionally, the facility is rented out to a club sports program.

The facility is in use 7 days a week from the fall through the spring seasons. Summer use is primarily the rental programs and adult sports league with occasional youth and church programs scheduled.

  1. The current bleachers were purchased used in 2004 and they were 20 years old at the time of purchase. They are retractable bleachers that operate mechanically through a remote controlled system. Through the years of use, they have been damaged by unauthorized users forcing them open and closing them without the use of the remote. The bleachers are currently unsafe to pull out completely because of damage done to the underlying bracket structures and cannot be extended safely beyond 5 rows; the gaps in the photo below indicate which rows are damaged.

  2. The walls in the gymnasium have suffered from extreme damage because they are unprotected. There is insufficient protection on the walls to keep the dry wall from impact of both equipment and players during practices and competitions.

  3. The basketball backboards need servicing as well as having their motors replaced. They were damaged during the earthquake two years ago and no longer retract, making it challenging for other sports to be played in the gym.

  4. The floor needs to be stripped down, repainted and resurfaced; it has been several years since it has been completely resurfaced.

  1. Replace the current bleachers shown above with telescoping bleachers that will seat 220 people

  2. Repair/replace the damaged drywall, paint the walls and install adequate wall padding on 3 of the gym walls (bleachers will line the 4th wall)

  3. Replace the motors of both basketball hoops and service the backboards and hoops

  4. Strip, repaint and resurface the gymnasium floor

The estimated total cost of this project is projected to be $50,000. The allocation is

Bleachers – purchased and installed                             $29,000

Wall - repairs, painting and install padding                   $8,750

Basketball hoop and backstop repair/service                 $4,750

Floor – sanding, painting and sealing                              $7,500

Alternative pricings have been researched, as have the option of repairing the existing bleachers. Because of the age of the bleachers, the extent of the damage and the likelihood of further damage after repair, it is determined to not be cost effective to repair the existing bleacher set.

We believe that first and foremost that God will be faithful in meeting the financial need to do His Kingdom work. We will work diligently with our GMI partners to fund raise through direct contribution solicitation, targeted fundraising activities and grant writing.

Our fundraising activities will include the building of a faith wall of tiles where students and families can purchase a tile, hand paint it and see it mounted in the building stairwells as a tangible testimony of our ECS/GMI faith family.
