ACTS 4:32 COMPASSION FUND
"All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had"
In this spirit, the Board of Directors of Eastside Christian Schools has established the Acts 4:32 Scholarship Fund. This fund is designed to allow the Head of Schools under the supervision of the Chairman of the Board to assist families with tuition and other school related expenses. Additionally, 10% of this fund will be unrestricted and can be used at the Head of School’s discretion for assisting families with emergency needs. The Acts 4:32 fund will allow Eastside Christian Schools to come alongside hurting families and minister to them more fully as modeled by the early church.
JANE NORMAN FUND
Jane Norman taught science at Eastside Christian Schools for ten years. Six years before she started teaching, Mrs. Norman suffered a tragedy when her oldest son was murdered. In March of her first year teaching, Jane was diagnosed with cancer and would begin chemotherapy treatments that would continue until her death ten years later. Despite her personal trials, Mrs. Norman was committed to inspiring kids to learn to forgive, to love science, and to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through her testimony. Her passion for teaching science and her constant joy in the Lord changed students’ lives beyond what she would ever know. Mrs. Norman retired to enjoy her family for a year and a half, before her passing on December 27, 2014. Never conceding, she volunteered in the school library... in a wheelchair... even until the week before she died.
As a tribute to her, Eastside Christian Schools is establishing the Jane Norman Scholarship in the amount of $500, to be awarded each year to a senior whose interest in science and faith in the Lord have set the course for his or her future.
The award will be presented at an awards assembly, or at graduation. The recipient will be determined by the Head of Schools or Principal, the high school science teacher, and at least two other faculty members at Eastside. If no student meets the qualifications in a given year, the scholarship will not be given, but the story of Jane Norman will be explained. The fund will grow so that in future years the amount of the scholarship will increase, up to $1000.
Every year, ECS raises a portion of our operating budget through the year-end Annual Fund giving opportunity. This fund fills the gap between tuition and other fundraising income and our annual operating expenses. This fund fills a critical need in allowing Eastside Christian Schools to maintain socio-ecomomic diversity in our student body and allow the opportunity of a biblical based education to all students regardless of their income.
Whether your gift is $25, $100, $500 or $1000, God entrusts all of us that have a stake in the mission of Eastside Christian School - students, parents, grandparents, staff, and alumni - to care for, maintain and prosper His ministry here at Eastside Christian Schools. We encourage every family to participate in the annual fund to the extend that they are led by the spirit.
